Two of My oDesk Cover Letters that Got Replies

oDesk Logo and SloganIf my first sample was not enough to give you ideas for your own oDesk job applications, here are two more of my letters that garnered replies from the clients.

Take note that the way I wrote my application letters do not guarantee a response. There are other factors to consider: feedback or work history, competition or other people who applied for the same job, the proposed bid and upfront payments, etc.

Furthermore, if you repeatedly use the same cover letter word for word, you will likely be rejected by the client due to the reason similar to “Spam Application – Obvious Qualification Mismatch.” Consider reading my tips on writing an effective oDesk cover letter.

Job Posting: Looking for an Android game news & reviews writer

My cover letter:

Hello,

I want to apply for this job.

My previous work experience includes writing for a tech-related website (http://www.techdug.com/author/conan) built on the Wordpress engine. Hence, I am familiar with Wordpress although I am ready to receive some training, if need be.

I also have written articles that covered Android-related topics including games:
http://www.techdug.com/best-android-games
http://www.techdug.com/alternative-sites-downloading-android-apps

I am willing to look out for the latest Android games news in order to write articles about them. Furthermore, I can also write your occasionally assigned articles without any hesitation.

Looking forward to a great work relationship, I am

Sincerely yours,
Conan Hughes

Job Posting: High quality article writers

My cover letter:

Hello,

I want to apply for this job. I believe I am very much qualified for the task at hand.

You can refer to http://www.techdug.com/author/conan and http://www.androidauthority.com/author/conan/ for my most recent articles and my credibility as an experienced writer. While the articles found in those links are tech-inclined, I am fairly flexible to any topic/niche.

My pay however is $1.00 per 100 words, hence the bid of $5 (excluding oDesk fee). In return, I assure you that I am able to work with minimal supervision, can meet deadlines, and can understand instructions at once.

Sincerely,
Conan Hughes
